Templeogue United Newsletter - June 2026

As another football season draws to a close, June gave us the perfect opportunity to reflect on everything that makes Templeogue United such a special club. While there were plenty of memorable results on the pitch, this month was about far more than football. It was about community, friendship, inclusion, volunteers and families coming together to celebrate another fantastic season.

Without question, the heart of June was our annual Mini World Cup . This year's tournament carried the theme "Play for Eve" , a tribute to Eve Hardy as she continues her courageous battle. Those three words appeared proudly on every customised Mini World Cup jersey worn throughout the tournament and quickly became much more than a slogan. They represented everything our club stands for – supporting one another, celebrating together and remembering that football has the power to bring people together in extraordinary ways.

Honouring Our Templeogue United Family

Before the tournament kicked off, we were delighted to unveil the eleven trophies that would be contested throughout this year's Mini World Cup.

Each trophy bears the name of a person who has made a lasting contribution to Templeogue United over many years. Some are still actively involved in the club today, while others are fondly remembered for the legacy they left behind. It was a fitting way to recognise the people who have helped shape Templeogue United into the club it is today and to remind our youngest players that they are part of something much bigger than a football tournament.

Football For All Begins

June also marked another significant milestone with the launch of our Football For All programme.

Our first session took place in the indoor astros and attracted an excellent turnout, with lots of smiling faces and plenty of enthusiasm from everyone involved. It was particularly heartening to see children proudly wearing jerseys from clubs across Ireland and beyond, all coming together simply to enjoy football.

A special word of thanks goes to David Nugent (The Kids Coach) for giving up his time to attend our opening session, helping our volunteers and ensuring we got the programme off to the best possible start. We are excited to continue growing this initiative over the months and years ahead.

Celebrating Success On The Pitch

While the Mini World Cup dominated the month, there was still plenty of football to celebrate.

Our Under-12 Premier Girls hosted a fantastic representative tournament over the June Bank Holiday weekend, welcoming teams from Galway, Kildare, Longford, Kilkenny, Sligo, Leitrim, Cavan, Monaghan and Cork to Tymon Park. Hosting over 150 of Ireland's most promising young players was a wonderful occasion for the club, and our own girls capped off an excellent day by winning the Shield Final thanks to Beibhinn Healy's decisive header.

Congratulations also to our 2018 Boys , who travelled to Cork to compete in Ringmahon Rangers' 75th Anniversary Tournament. Winning all six matches while keeping six clean sheets made for an unforgettable day for the players, coaches and parents.

We also recognised the tremendous achievements of both our Under-12 and Under-17 teams, who narrowly finished runners-up in their respective DDSL leagues following closely contested playoff matches. While both teams fell just short, they represented Templeogue United with enormous pride throughout the season.

Our player pathway also continued to shine, with six members of our Under-12 Premier Girls selected for St Patrick's Athletic's Emerging Talent Programme. Congratulations to the players involved on this well-deserved recognition.

Celebrating Our Players

Our social media channels continued to showcase the wonderful football being played across the club throughout June.

Our popular Hat-trick Hero and Goal of the Week features highlighted some outstanding individual performances and moments of quality from players across all age groups.

Congratulations to Luca Tully, Jack Behan, Rishann, Sean Lalor, Liam Faulkner, Finn Boyle, Sam O'Neill and Callum Jones , whose goals and performances featured throughout the month. These moments continue to demonstrate the talent, enjoyment and enthusiasm that can be found across every corner of Templeogue United.

For the first time this season, we also introduced our Goal of the Year competition, inviting members of the public to vote from five outstanding finalists: Conor Keenan, Ruby Prendergast, Darby Kirwan, Jack Behan and Jonathan Leach. The response was tremendous, with hundreds of supporters casting their votes.

The Mini World Cup Gets Underway

The Mini World Cup officially kicked off on 8 June and immediately lived up to expectations.

The opening day brought fantastic crowds, great football and plenty of smiling faces around Tymon Park. The excitement continued into Day Two when RTÉ cameras visited the club, interviewing several of our young players before featuring Templeogue United on the national news the following day. It was wonderful exposure for our club and highlighted the positive impact grassroots football continues to have within our community.

The colourful Play for Eve jerseys became an instant success, creating a fantastic atmosphere throughout the tournament while reinforcing the message that defined this year's competition.

Progress Beyond The Pitch

June also saw several important developments away from football.

Following many months of work behind the scenes, Templeogue United was officially presented with its FAI Club Mark plaque by our Football Development Officer, Robbie De Courcy. This accreditation reflects the enormous effort made by so many volunteers to ensure the club continues to meet the highest standards of governance, safeguarding and club development.

We were equally delighted to officially open our newly covered terrace beside the clubhouse. The addition of the new awning means members, players, coaches and supporters can enjoy the facilities throughout the year and represents another significant improvement to our club grounds.

Our Over-35s also travelled to Cork to take part in the Paul Foley Memorial Match against College Corinthians. It proved to be another memorable occasion, bringing together former players and old friends while celebrating the spirit of grassroots football.

Family Day – The Perfect Finale

The Mini World Cup reached its conclusion on Family Day on 21 June.

Following two weeks of fantastic football, every final was played before players proudly received their medals and trophies in front of family and friends. We were honoured to welcome Pamela Kearns , Mayor of South Dublin County Council and a long-time friend of Templeogue United, who presented the awards and shared some wonderful reflections on her own connection with the club.

Family Day also included the annual Noel Dunne Memorial Match , one of the most special traditions in our calendar. Coaches, former players and friends once again took to the pitch to honour Noel's memory, with members of the Dunne family presenting the Noel Dunne Cup after another enjoyable contest.

Another new addition this year was the inaugural Coaches' Mini World Cup , which proved to be a fantastic success. Played in glorious weather, it raised valuable funds for the Eve Hardy while reminding everyone that competitive instincts never disappear—although there were certainly a few sore legs in the days that followed!

Celebrating Those Who Make The Difference

Our Annual Club Awards once again recognised the people whose contributions make Templeogue United such a special place.

Our inaugural Goal of the Year award was won by Ruby Prendergast following her superb strike against Bohemians in the SFAI Cup semi-final. Ruby received almost 700 public votes and was presented with a €100 Lifestyle Sports voucher, kindly sponsored by Graham Buckley of Buckley Real Estate.

Congratulations also to Clive Coleman , who deservedly received the Coach of the Year award following another exceptional season with our Under-12 Premier Boys. Clive's commitment and leadership have been instrumental in the continued development of his players, and we wish him and the team every success as they move into Under-13 Premier football.

The prestigious Tiernan O'Neill Award was presented to Anna Redmond , captain of our Under-12 Premier Girls. The award recognises not only excellence on the pitch but also determination, resilience and character—qualities Anna demonstrated throughout a remarkable season.

Finally, congratulations to our Club Person of the Year , Barry McCarthy .

Since taking on the role of Head of Communications , Barry has transformed the way Templeogue United tells its story. From match reports and player features to volunteer spotlights, Mini World Cup coverage and daily social media updates, the quality and consistency of our communications have reached an entirely new level.

One of the clearest signs of that success came during June when our Instagram page surpassed 5,000 followers —a fantastic milestone that reflects not only the growth of our online community but also Barry's creativity, commitment and countless hours of work behind the scenes.

On behalf of everyone at Templeogue United, thank you Barry for everything you continue to do for our club.

Looking Ahead

As another season comes to a close, it is worth taking a moment to reflect on what we have achieved together.

Whether you are a player pulling on a Templeogue United jersey for the first time, a volunteer opening the gates on a Saturday morning, a coach giving up evenings to help young players develop, a referee, a committee member, or a parent cheering from the sidelines, every one of you plays a part in making this club what it is.

June reminded us exactly what Templeogue United is all about. Football may bring us together, but it is our people who make this club truly special.

On a personal note, this season has been particularly special for my family as it marked my son Jonah's first year in the Templeogue United Academy. Having been involved with this club for many years—as a player, coach, committee member and now Chairman—it has been an incredibly proud moment to watch the next generation of my own family begin their journey with the Club. Standing on the sidelines as a parent has reminded me exactly why so many volunteers give their time so generously: to create lifelong memories and opportunities for children to enjoy football, make friends and grow in confidence.

As we look ahead to next season, there is every reason to be excited. More teams are competing at the highest levels, new teams continue to join our club, our facilities are improving year after year, and our community continues to grow stronger. None of this happens by accident—it happens because of the incredible dedication of our volunteers, coaches, parents and supporters.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed throughout another fantastic season. We hope you all enjoy a well-earned summer break, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Tymon Park for another exciting year for Templeogue United.

TUFC May Club Newsletter

As we look back on May, it is hard not to feel incredibly proud of everything that was achieved across Templeogue United.

From cup finals and tournament victories to individual honours, player development opportunities and the launch of initiatives that truly reflect the values of our club, May was a month that showcased the very best of Templeogue United.

Perhaps most importantly, it was a month that demonstrated the strength of our community. The support shown for one of our young players, Eve Hardy, has been nothing short of inspiring and serves as a reminder that while football is at the heart of our club, people will always come first.

Thank you to all of our players, coaches, volunteers, parents, sponsors and supporters who continue to make Templeogue United such a special place.

Emerging Talent and Player Development

The month began with our 2019 Emerging Talent Programme squad participating in a five-a-side tournament at the Sport Ireland Campus in Abbottstown. Organised by St. Mochtas, it was a fantastic experience for our youngest players and another example of the excellent development opportunities available within the club.

Our commitment to player development continued throughout the month. The Under-12 Premier Girls welcomed Rob Power from St Patrick's Athletic Girls Emerging Talent Programme for a special training session which was thoroughly enjoyed by all involved.

Congratulations also to Under-12 goalkeeper Eva Doherty, who earned an invitation to train with Shelbourne FC's National League squads. This is a tremendous achievement and recognition of Eva's dedication and talent.

Meanwhile, our Under-16 Major team travelled to Liverpool for a mini tournament, gaining valuable experience and proudly representing Templeogue United on the international stage.

Success Across the Club

May brought plenty of success stories from teams throughout the club.

Congratulations to our 2014 Girls who captured the Kilkenny Cup after defeating a strong Middleton side in the final. It was a superb achievement and a fitting reward for the hard work put in by the players and coaches throughout the season.

Our Under-11 Girls added further silverware by defeating Balbriggan 2-0 in the Paul O'Connor Cup Final. The girls produced an excellent performance to cap off a memorable campaign.

Our Under-14 Girls also finished their season in style, securing second place in their division and earning promotion for next season. A fantastic achievement and one that reflects the progress made by the squad throughout the year.

At senior level, our Major 1 Saturday side recorded an impressive 2-0 away victory over Ashbourne, with goalkeeper Jamie Austin producing a standout display that included a penalty save.

Our Under-12 Sunday team secured an important victory over Larkview to guarantee their place in the division for next season. Goals from Jake Morrissey and Ben Gleeson sealed a deserved win and ensured the team will compete at the same level again next year.

The month concluded with another important result for our Under-12 Premier Boys, who came from behind to defeat Mount Merrion 2-1 and keep their league title hopes alive heading into the final weeks of the season.

An Incredible Achievement for our Under-12 Premier Boys

One of the standout stories of the month was the remarkable journey of our Under-12 Premier Boys.

The team represented Templeogue United in the SFAI All-Ireland Final against Shelbourne. Despite a brave and determined performance, the boys were narrowly defeated 1-0. While the result did not go their way, reaching an All-Ireland Final remains a tremendous achievement and one that the entire club is immensely proud of.

What happened next perhaps told us even more about this group.

Showing incredible character and resilience, the boys bounced back the following week to defeat Cherry Orchard 1-0 in the DDSL Tom Cavanagh Cup Final and bring another major trophy back to Templeogue.

Their response to disappointment was outstanding and serves as a wonderful example for all young players across the club.

Celebrating Individual Excellence

Throughout May we continued to recognise outstanding individual performances through our popular social media features.

Goal of the Week

• Connor Keenan (Under-14s) for a stunning David Beckham-inspired long-range effort.

• Glenn McNevin (Under-16 Major) for a spectacular strike during the team's Liverpool tournament.

• Jonathan Leach (Under-11s).

We also showcased some fantastic team goals, including a wonderful collection of finishes from our Under-11 side in their impressive away victory over Cherry Orchard.

Our Clean Sheet Hero feature has proven extremely popular and highlights the contributions of goalkeepers and defenders throughout the club.

Supporting Eve Hardy

May also saw the launch of a very special campaign in support of Eve Hardy from our Under-10 Girls team.

Eve is currently undergoing treatment following a cancer diagnosis and the response from the Templeogue United community has been truly remarkable. Players, coaches, parents and supporters have all come together to show their support for Eve and her family.

Throughout the month we shared photographs and memories of Eve's involvement in club activities, including previous Mini World Cups, and we were proud to announce that the 2026 Mini World Cup will be dedicated entirely to Eve.

The courage and positivity shown by Eve continue to inspire everyone across the club.

May also saw the launch of a very special campaign in support of Eve Hardy from our Under-10 Girls team.

Celebrating the History of the Mini World Cup

As excitement built towards the 2026 Mini World Cup, we launched a special series celebrating the rich history of one of Templeogue United's most cherished traditions.

Throughout May, the club shared daily Mini World Cup content across our social media channels, with this year's build-up centred around the iconic Italia '90 World Cup. The campaign brought back many fond memories for members young and old, while introducing a new generation of players to one of football's most memorable tournaments.

Club legends David Spring and Peter Nolan shared their memories of the very first Mini World Cup and reflected on how the tournament has evolved over the years while retaining its unique spirit.

We were also delighted to hear from former Templeogue United player and current Dundalk F.C. goalkeeper Conor Kearns, who spoke about his own experiences growing up in the club and the special memories he has of the Mini World Cup.

Together, these stories, photographs and daily updates helped build excitement for this year's tournament while celebrating the traditions and community spirit that make the Mini World Cup such a special event in the Templeogue United calendar.

Senior Awards Night

The Senior Section Player of the Year Awards Night provided an opportunity to celebrate another successful season and recognise individual achievements.

Congratulations to Daniel Stewart, Jack Connor, Daniel Donovan, Jamie Austin, Sam McDonald and Dara Condon, who were among those honoured on the night.

Thank you to all players, coaches and volunteers involved in our senior section for their commitment and contribution throughout the season.

Our Over-35s team proudly unveiled their new playing kit ahead of the new season.

Traffic Management

There is strictly NO RIGHT TURN when exiting Wellington Lane.

All drivers are asked to comply with this restriction and follow any instructions from

tournament volunteers or club officials.

Tournament Rules

Match Duration

• Games will last 20 minutes.

• There will be no half-time interval.

• A water break may be permitted at the referee's discretion.

Player Participation

• Every player must play a minimum of half a match in every game.

• Team managers are responsible for ensuring this requirement is met through roll-on, roll-off

substitutions.

• Players who do not start a game must start their team's next game.

Player Eligibility

• Only fully registered and paid-up players may participate.

• No registrations will be permitted once the tournament has commenced.

• Players may only play for the team to which they have been assigned.

Match Rules

• FAI age-appropriate footballs must be used.

• There is no offside rule.

• DDSL 5v5 and 7v7 rules apply throughout the tournament, adapted where necessary for

8v8 formats.

• If no allocated referee is available, any volunteer referee must be over 18 years of age.

Team Numbers

• Where teams have insufficient players available, the game must be played using the lower

number.

• For example, if one team only has six players available for a seven-a-side game, the match

should be played six versus six.

Honor Rule (3-Goal Difference)

Purpose: To promote fair and competitive matches.

If a team takes a lead of 3 goals or more, the trailing team may add one additional player to the field.

The extra player may enter play immediately after the referee is informed.

If the goal difference is reduced to 2 goals or fewer, the trailing team must remove the extra player at the next stoppage in play.

Only one additional player may be added under this rule, regardless of how large the score difference becomes.

The referee has final authority on the application of the Honor Rule.

Match Scheduling

• Teams should be at their allocated pitch at least 15 minutes before kick-off.

• If a match starts late, it must still finish on time to avoid delays to later fixtures.

• Coordinators will communicate any changes to the published schedule.

Fair Play & Respect

All participants are expected to:

• Respect opponents.

• Respect referees.

• Respect tournament officials.

• Respect tournament rules and decisions.

• Demonstrate positive behaviour both on and off the pitch.

Managers and coaches are asked to place the emphasis on:

• Participation

• Enjoyment

• Effort

• Learning

• Encouragement rather than solely on results.

Praise and encouragement help create the best possible experience for every player.

Knockout Stage Rules

• Any Semi-Final or Final ending in a draw will be decided by a penalty shootout.

• No extra time will be played.

• The winner of the penalty shootout will progress or be declared tournament champions.

Results & League Tables

• Responsibility for updating results rests with the relevant Age Group Coordinators.

• Results should be entered immediately after each game.

• Tournament standings and league tables will be updated live via Tournify.

Tournament Governance

• Tournament organisers' decisions are final in the event of any dispute.

• Any questions should be directed to your Age Group Coordinator or a member of the Mini

�� A Light-Hearted Start

We kicked off April in good spirits with an April Fool’s joke on social media, announcing a €2 charge for entry to the car park following the installation of a new barrier.

While it gave plenty of people a laugh, it’s fair to say a few took it a bit too seriously! It was great to see the level of engagement—and we promise there are no plans for parking charges just yet.

❤️ Football For All – A Big Step Forward

Early in the month, we were delighted to announce that Templeogue United will be launching a Football For All programme .

This is an area we felt the club has been missing in recent years, and we’re really excited to bring it to life. The response so far has been extremely positive, with strong interest already shown.

We’re working hard behind the scenes to get everything in place and look forward to sharing further updates very soon.

�� Player Pathway in Action

April was another proud month in terms of player development and progression.

A special mention to Laila Hurley , who represented the Ireland U16s against Switzerland. Laila is a former Templeogue United player and continues to stay closely connected to the club, regularly supporting our girls section. We wish her every success as she continues her journey with Bohemians.

We also celebrated Seanán Fisher and Alex Byrne , both former Templeogue United players, who represented Ireland U16s against Denmark—another fantastic achievement and a reflection of the strength of our player pathway.

In addition, five members of our U12 Premier squad represented Shamrock Rovers through their Emerging Talent Programme, taking part in games against Arsenal and Celtic.

This was an outstanding experience for the players, who performed exceptionally well and did the club proud.

⚽ On the Pitch

It’s been a strong month across the board, with plenty to celebrate.

Our senior section continued their excellent form, with all three senior teams winning their home games on the opening weekend of April—keeping promotion ambitions firmly on track as we head into the final stages of the season.

At underage level, our younger age groups enjoyed a fantastic experience at the DDSL 3v3 Skills Festival in the Sport Ireland Campus—an important and enjoyable introduction to organised games for many.

�� Cup Success & Big Fixtures Ahead

There were some major moments in cup competitions during April.

Our U12 Premier Boys booked their place in the SFAI Cup Final with a superb 2-0 win over Fairview Rangers. They now face Shelbourne in the final this weekend—an incredible achievement for the group.

The same team has also reached the League Cup Final , making it an exciting period ahead with two finals to look forward to.

On the girls’ front, our U12 Premier Girls saw their All-Ireland campaign come to an end after an extra-time semi-final defeat to Bohemians. The girls delivered an outstanding performance and pushed a very strong Bohemians side all the way.

A huge well done to the players, coaches and parents for what has been a fantastic season—we look forward to building on this going forward.

There was also great news for our U11 Girls , who secured a brilliant semi-final win over St. Kevin’s Boys (Met Marian) to progress to the League Cup Final , which will take place on May 24th . Best of luck to the players and coaches as they prepare for the final.

�� Mini World Cup 2026

We were also delighted to launch registration for our ever-popular Mini World Cup , which returns in June.

The tournament will run from June 8th to June 21st and is open to boys and girls from U7 to U14. This is always one of the highlights of the club calendar and promises to be another brilliant event for players and families alike.

Register for The TUFC 2026 Mini World Cup

Note: The tournament has now started. To view teams and fixtures, click the link below or download the Tournify App on Apple or Android , and search 'TUFC'. To find a players team, select 'My Team' and click the 'Show Players in Teams' toggle.

Templeogue United F.C. are delighted to welcome the return of the Mini World Cup. The competition will run from Tuesday 3rd June to Sunday 15th June 2025 and is suitable for all children from U7 to U13 Age Groups (born 2012-2018).

By default, Girls playing in the Boys & Girls Competition be placed in teams one year below their actual age (e.g. girls born 2012 will play with boys born 2013). They will have the option to play at their own age if they so wish.

There is also a Girls Only Competition for 2012 to 2018 age groups, and a one day Academy Competition for 2019 and 2020 age groups on Sunday 15th June. You can click here to register for the Academy Competition (all other registrations are now closed).

�� Cup Football & Match Highlights

The month began with our 2017 group travelling to Northern Ireland to compete in the Ballymena United Youth Academy Cup (Spring Cup). The boys performed superbly throughout the tournament and were unlucky to lose narrowly in the final. A brilliant achievement and a fantastic experience for all involved.

Our 2014 side also impressed in their fixture against Raheny United, where the team produced some excellent football and a number of outstanding goals.

At national level, our U12 Girls Premier team delivered a superb performance in the SFAI All-Ireland Cup Quarter Final, defeating Aisling Annacotty 2-0 to progress to the semi-finals — a fantastic achievement for the group.

We also had mixed fortunes in the SFAI All-Ireland Cup on the boys’ side. Our U12 Premier Boys produced an outstanding performance to defeat St. Kevin’s Boys in the quarter-final, progressing to the latter stages of the competition.

Unfortunately, our U16 Boys, who reached the final of the competition last year, were narrowly beaten by St. Francis FC.

Hard luck to the players and management team — a strong group who continue to represent the club with distinction.

�� Seniors Pushing for Promotion

All Templeogue United senior sides are right in the mix and pushing hard for promotion as the season reaches a crucial stage.

With the longer evenings arriving, midweek football is fast approaching — bringing more games, more action, and more opportunities to support the teams.

We encourage everyone around the club to get down and show their support in the weeks ahead and help drive the push for promotion.

�� Community & Club Impact

As part of the All-Ireland Cup fixture, the club proudly raised €4,000 in support of the Kids Coach initiative and the new Autism Hub in Walkinstown. This reflects the strong community spirit that continues to define Templeogue United.

�� New Initiatives – Recognising Excellence

March saw the launch of our “Goal of the Week” feature, showcasing the best goals from across the club. Our first winner was Bobby Potts (U11s), who scored a fantastic goal away to River Valley Rangers.

In addition, we introduced our “Clean Sheet Hero” initiative to recognise the outstanding contributions of our goalkeepers. Our first recipient was Conor Walsh (U14s), who produced an excellent performance in a 3-0 win over St. Kevin’s Boys.

�� Player Development & Pathway

We continued to highlight our player pathway, focusing on former Templeogue United players now competing at National League level.

A special mention also goes to our U12 Premier Boys, where every player in the squad has been selected for the UCD Emerging Talent Programme (ETP) — a remarkable achievement and a testament to the quality within the group.

We also highlighted the resilience of Sean Ward, who has worked tirelessly to return from a serious ankle injury. Sean is now back training and we look forward to seeing him back in action with both the senior squad and our Over-35s team.

✈️ International Experience

Several teams represented the club abroad during March, most notably our U12s, who travelled to Portugal to compete in the Portimão International Cup. The team represented the club with distinction against strong international opposition, gaining invaluable experience.

⚽ Late Drama & Big Results

March closed with a dramatic and memorable victory for our U12 Premier Boys, who defeated St. Kevin’s Boys 2-1 in the SFAI Cup Quarter Final. A decisive extra-time winner from Jack Behan sealed a fantastic result and progression to the next round.

�� Memorable Moments

The final day of March captured everything that is great about our club:

- Sonny Curran, part of our 2021 Academy, stepped up to play with a 2018 age group — scoring a goal and delivering an outstanding performance well beyond his years

- Alongside them, our 2019 Girls played their first ever game against Railway Union — full of goals, energy, and smiles, marking a special milestone for the team

All-Ireland Progression

It has been an incredible run for several Templeogue United teams on the All-Ireland stage, with three squads progressing after fantastic performances.

U16 Boys
Our U16 boys travelled to Mullingar Athletic and delivered a superb performance away from home to secure their place in the Quarter Finals. Playing with great discipline and composure, they showed the quality and determination that has defined their season so far.

U12 Premier Girls
Our U12 girls produced a brilliant away win against Shamrock Rovers , showing tremendous character and teamwork. It was a performance full of energy and belief, and one that the whole club is incredibly proud of and as for yesterday... WOW. Into the semi-finals now, just incredible

U12 Premier Boys
The U12 boys enjoyed an outstanding couple of results. First, a strong performance at home against Bridge United , followed by an impressive away victory against Salthill Devon , sealing their progression into the Quarter Finals

To have three Templeogue United teams progressing at national level is a fantastic achievement and a credit to the players, coaches and families who support them every week.

Emerging Talent Program

Our Sunday 11.1 group had the opportunity to travel over and take part in a Foundations Programme workshop delivered by the ETP coaching staff in Abbotstown. The session focused strongly on individual player development and provided a great experience for the lads. A thank you to the DDSL for the invitation.

Coaching Development – Darren Dillon Workshop

Off the pitch, we were delighted to welcome Darren Dillon to the club to deliver a Strength & Conditioning workshop for our coaches.

The session focused on helping coaches understand how to safely introduce strength, movement and athletic development into youth football sessions. It provided practical tools that can help players improve performance while also reducing injury risk.

Investing in the education and development of our coaches is a key priority for the club, and sessions like this ensure our players continue to benefit from the best possible environment.

A huge thanks to Darren for sharing his expertise.

Sold-Out Coerver Coaching Camp

We were also delighted to host another sold-out Coerver Coaching Camp at the club.

The camp once again proved hugely popular, giving players the chance to develop their skills, confidence and love for the game in a fun and positive environment.

It’s fantastic to see so many young players engaging with the game and enjoying their football at Templeogue United.

In Memory of Dick Dunne

Finally, we close this newsletter with a moment of reflection.

The club was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dick Dunne , a much-loved member of the Templeogue United community.

Dick meant a great deal to many around the club, and his presence, kindness and support will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Dick’s family and friends at this difficult time.

May he rest in peace.

We are proud to have three teams remaining in the SFAI Cup.

Our Under 12 Premier Girls had an unforgettable win at home against Ballylanders FC to reach the final 16.

Coerver Coach Education Clinic

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to all the coaches who attended the Coerver Coaching Education Clinic at Templeogue United. It was a fantastic day, featuring an in-house session on the Coerver approach to individual player development, followed by a practical on-pitch session that brought the methodology to life. We’re delighted to see the Coerver approach already being adopted within training and look forward to the positive impact it will continue to have across the club.

LFA Selection vs LSL Selection

Templeogue United was delighted to host a very special match on the recent Bank Holiday Monday, as a Leinster Senior League selection took on a Leinster Football Association selection. Managed by Andy McNulty and coached by Robbie Collins , the LFA side faced a Leinster Senior League team managed by Marc Kenny and coached by David Mooney , in a fantastic showcase of the 30 best players in Dublin. It was a superb game and one we’re extremely proud to have hosted — be sure to check out the brilliant photographs captured by Una Murray AKA Fast Twitch Photos.

Social Growth

We’d like to shine a quick light on Templeogue United’s growing success on social media. In January alone, our content recorded over 401,000 views, with staggering growth achieved over the past nine months — a testament to the brilliant engagement from our community. We’re also delighted to announce that Barry McCarthy has taken up the role of Head of Communications - joining The FDC , helping to further strengthen how we share news and stories across every aspect of the club; thank you for liking and subscribing, and if there’s ever something you’d like covered, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Barry or any member of the club team.

TUFC AWAY - 12.3s to West Brom

Our Under-12.3 Boys enjoyed an unforgettable trip to West Bromwich Albion , training at the West Bromwich Albion Academy and proudly serving as flag bearers at The Hawthorns for the top-of-the-table clash against Middlesbrough. The trip also included a friendly match against Enville Athletic, adding valuable game experience to an already incredible visit. It was a fantastic opportunity and a truly memorable experience for the boys.

RIP Eamonn Murray

We end this edition with the sad news of the passing of Templeogue United club legend Eamon Murray . Eamon served the club with distinction as both Club Manager and Honorary Club Secretary for 12 years, and without his dedication and tireless commitment, the club would not be where it is today. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time — may he rest in peace.

Coerver Coaching Partnership

We’re delighted to officially roll out our partnership with Coerver Coaching , a huge step forward for Templeogue United . Every player and every coach in the club now has full access to the Cover Coaching app, providing high-quality session plans, drills, and age-appropriate development content.

This partnership also includes ongoing coach education sessions and clinics , ensuring our coaches continue to learn, develop and deliver the best possible environment for our players — from academy right through to senior football.

We were thrilled to recently host a Cover Coaching Clinic at the club , with over 100 kids in attendance . It was a brilliant day of learning, energy and football, and a great example of how this partnership is already benefiting our community.

St. Stephen’s Day Family 5K

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in our St. Stephen’s Day Run , whether you tackled the 5k or joined in the Kids 1k. It was a fantastic morning filled with positivity, community spirit and plenty of smiles.

The run was a great initiative and the perfect way to burn off some of the turkey and ham after Christmas Day. Thanks to all participants, volunteers and supporters who made it such a success.

Club Social Night

We are delighted to invite you to our TUFC Annual Club Night, taking place on Saturday 31st January in the club bar, starting at 7.00pm.

This is a great opportunity for coaches, parents, volunteers, and members to come together and enjoy a social night at the club.

Coaches vs Seniors

Our Coaches vs Seniors match was everything it promised to be — competitive, entertaining and played in great spirit. It perfectly captured what Templeogue United is about: community, inclusion and football for all.

Matches like this reinforce the pathway we’re building at the club, from academy level right through to senior football, where everyone feels part of the same journey.

A Special Visit from Santa & Academy Returns

We were delighted to welcome a very special guest as Santa paid a visit to the Templeogue United Foundations Academy , bringing plenty of excitement and smiles to our youngest members.

We’re also happy to confirm that the Templeogue United Foundations Academy returns this weekend , and we’re looking forward to seeing all our players back on the pitch for another great term of football and fun.

Old Man Football: Giving Back Again

A massive well done to our Old Man Football group, who once again raised money for charity through their weekly subs. This is a brilliant example of how football at Templeogue United goes beyond the pitch and gives back to the wider community.

Anna, Jack & Danny DDSL Selections

We’re delighted to share that three Templeogue United players - Jack Behan, Danny Duggan, and Anna Redmond have been selected for the DDSL U12 Emerging Talent Programmes . Jack and Danny earned their places in the DDSL U12 ETP after over 120 players were assessed, while Anna has been chosen for the Girls U12 Premier Emerging Talent Programme. This is a fantastic achievement for all three players and a testament to their hard work, attitude, and talent. The entire club is incredibly proud of them, and we wish Jack, Danny, and Anna every success as they take this exciting next step in their football journeys.

TUFC Young Guns Travel To Liverpool

One of the standout moments this month was a major club trip as four TUFC squads (Under 9.1, 10.1, 11.1 and 12.1) travelled to Merseyside for an unforgettable football weekend.

Our teams had the incredible opportunity to play versus Liverpool FC at the world-class AXA Training Centre, a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our players, coaches and families.

The trip also included fixtures at Chester FC , giving our players fresh challenge.

The tour in partnership with LLS Your Tours was a huge success and the FDC will be keen to make a permanent part of our football calendar.

TUFC Seniors Travel To Liverpool

It wasn't just the young guns that travelled east, our Senior Division 3 squad also made the journey to Liverpool this month, enjoying great team bonding and proudly representing TUFC abroad vs FC DY in the inaugural O’Neill Cup. Shout out to Josh Holden , who got Player Of The Match.

Major 1s Hit a Huge 7–1 Win

A commanding performance saw the Major 1 side put seven past St. Pats CY, featuring a Ben McDonald hat-trick and excellent contributions from Adam Kelly, Alex Trofim, and Finn Doogan. Adam O’Hare earned Man of the Match.

U12 Girls Through in the SFAI Cup

A strong 3–0 win over Railway Union pushed our U12 Premier Girls through to the next round of the SFAI Cup. Brilliant teamwork and composure.

Sauna Sixty Six Is A Hit

Towards the end of November we welcomed Eli, Rob and Luke the lads behind Sauna Sixty Six to the club. The message is simple, drop down, jump in, heat up and chill out. In the first weekend alone the lads raised over €800 for The Movember Charity. They'll be back this weekend, so book in fast!

Christmas at TUFC

Huge congratulations to our very own Marie Crowe , who was honoured with The News Industry Award at the 2025 Goss.ie Women of the Year Awards ! ��

This award recognises Marie’s tireless work on the powerful “Girls in Green” investigation and documentary — shining a light on female voices in Irish sport. Her integrity, belief, and passion make this achievement so well deserved.

�� International Honour – Laila Hurley Called Up for Ireland

We’re so proud of former TUFC player Laila Hurley , who was selected for the Tom Elmes Ireland Girls’ U16 team! ��⚽

Laila traveled to Prague for two international friendlies against Czechia — an incredible milestone and experience for this talented young player. We can hardly forget the great Katie McCabe, former TUFC player who collected her 100th cap this month also - incredible!

�� Dane Massey’s Dundalk Triumph

Huge congratulations to our own Dane Massey! �� Dane, a key part of our Templeogue United Over-35s squad and first-team coach at Dundalk FC , celebrated a massive achievement as Dundalk were crowned League of Ireland First Division champions , securing their return to the Premier Division ! A PFAI Team of the Decade member, Dane’s leadership and professionalism continue to inspire both within our club and across Irish football. Well done, Dane — the whole TUFC family is proud! ��⚪

�� Conor Kearns’ Goalkeepers Anonymous Camp

Well done to Shelbourne's Conor Kearns, who hosted an outstanding Goalkeepers Anonymous camp this month. The ex TUFC stopper's sessions gave our young keepers a chance to sharpen their skills, build confidence, and learn from one of Ireland’s top professionals.

The enthusiasm and focus across all sessions were exceptional — great work, Conor, and well done to everyone who took part!

�� FDC Updates and Development

Folllowing on from our FDC announcement last month, the FDC held two coaches information sessions this month to update on a variety of topics from our FAI Club Mark ambitions, to coach education and trips and travel guidance.

�� Be a Rock for Rory

Our TUFC Under 8.1s are proud to wear a jersey that stands for more than football. Sponsored by Coach Sean Cavin , godfather of Rory , this special kit was created in support of his godson back home in the United States — a brave young boy preparing for another kidney transplant. We’re proud that through this gesture, Sean, his team, and the wider Templeogue United family can show Rory that even though we’re far apart, we’re all right behind him. ��

⚽ New Football Development Committee

Firstly, w e are pleased to confirm the establishment of a new Football Development Committee (FDC). This group will play a key role in supporting coaches, aligning our player pathway, and shaping the long-term direction of football development at the club. The following roles and appointments have been made:

Director of Football - Brian Jones
Heads of Small Sided Games - Ian Early / Peter Hyland

Interviews with Brian and Ian are linked above. A huge thank you to outgoing FDC Chair - Chris Oglesby and his team for their incredible work the last few years establishing the FDC and growing our football footprint year on year.

�� Jonathan Feighery Appointed New Club Secretary

I am delighted to welcome Jonathan Feighery as our new Club Secretary replacing "the irreplaceable" John Cannon . JF brings great energy and organisation to the role, and I’m confident this appointment will help strengthen the running of the club. Thank you to everyone who supported a smooth handover.

�� A Sincere Thank You

I’d like to personally thank all outgoing volunteers and coaches for their effort and support for the club over the past season. A special shout out to Johnny Johnston and Andy McNulty for their commitment, passion, and contribution to Templeogue United over the past few years. Their hard work and dedication have made a lasting impact on players and fellow coaches alike, and they leave with our very best wishes for the future. I have not given up hope of getting them back involved in some capacity as soon as possible.

�� Growth of the Girls’ Section

Our girls’ section continues to thrive, with record participation and multiple teams competing across a range of age groups. It’s fantastic to see the enthusiasm and teamwork within this side of the club. For the first time in 16 years we have a girls under-12 Premier Team, who have made an unbeaten start to the season. A huge thank you to our volunteer coaches, coordinators, and parents for driving this growth — you are inspiring the next generation of players.

On behalf of the O’Neill family , I’d like to thank everyone in the Templeogue United community for their incredible support and kindness over recent months. Your compassion truly reflects what this club stands for. A special word of thanks to Chris Oglesby for his efforts in coordinating on behalf of the club.

Our Club Lotto continues to be an important fundraiser for improving facilities and supporting player development. Thank you to everyone who plays and helps promote it — and congratulations to our recent winners! Lotto tickets can be purchased via the link on our website.

��TUFC Foundations Academy

The TUFC Foundations Academy got off to a flying start. The new academy led by Richie Towell will run all year round from 08:45 to 10:00 every Sunday morning. In addition Richie will oversee a number of coaching and development initiatives, taking TUFC to the next level.

Templeogue United Foundations Academy

Templeogue United FC is proud to announce a landmark partnership with ex-professional footballer Richie Towell, who will play an active role in our academy restructure, Templeogue United Foundations Academy.

From September 2025, our Academy will introduce a new structure designed to provide every player with a clear pathway, from first kicks to senior football — what we call “Football for Life.”

By investing in the right structures, resources, and leadership, we are creating an environment where every player — recreational or elite — can thrive.

Building For The Future

At Templeogue United, we believe football should be a journey — not just a game. Our new Academy Restructure, led by Richie Towell, is designed to give every player the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive, whatever their ambitions. From the first time a child pulls on a jersey to competing at senior level, our pathway is built to support them every step of the way

As part of this restructure, Richie Towell will oversee a number of academy initiatitives:

Deliver Dedicated Sessions for U8–U12 Players
Help Build our Player Pathway

Reaching Out in Support of the O'Neill Family

Dear Friends,

We are reaching out to you with a heartfelt request to consider donating in support of the O'Neill family from Templeogue United Football Club. The O’Neill’s have been deeply involved with the club for 30 years, and their dedication and passion are truly inspiring.

Tragically, the family has faced immense challenges. Twenty years ago, they lost their 15-year-old son, Tiernan, to cancer. Now, their 17-year-old son, Ultan, has been diagnosed with cancer. It's unimaginable that any family should have to endure this twice.

Your donation is our way of bringing some light into a dark time for the O’Neill Family -to show how much they mean to us and to help ease at least one of many pressures they are facing. All proceeds will go directly to the family to use in whatever way supports them best.

Together for the O’Neills – Limited Edition Fundraiser Jersey Now Available

Templeogue United’s Over 35s team has launched a very special jersey – not just for the love of football, but for the love of one of our own families.

Inspired by the iconic Bohemian FC x Oasis collaboration, this one-off design carries a deeper meaning for our club. It’s a show of strength, unity, and support for the O’Neill family — true Templeogue legends who have been at the heart of our club for over 30 years.

A Family That Gave Everyting

The O’Neills have been lifelong supporters, players, and volunteers at Templeogue United. But tragedy has touched their lives not once, but twice.

Their son Tiernan tragically passed away from cancer at the age of 15. And now, heartbreakingly, their 17-year-old son Ultan is facing his own battle with cancer.

This jersey is more than fabric – it’s a tribute to the O’Neill family’s resilience, and a way for our community to stand firmly beside them during this unimaginable time.

Every Purchase, Every Share, Every Cent Matters

All proceeds from the jersey sales go directly to the O’Neills. Whether it’s to ease financial pressure or simply show them they’re not alone, every contribution helps.

The jersey may echo a famous design, but this one is uniquely ours. It’s a grassroots fundraiser, built on friendship, loyalty, and the belief that football clubs should always look after their own.

The jersey is modelled by Over 35s players Dane Massey, Mark Leech, Patrick Cowzer and Barry McCarthy. Additional shots feature Samantha Forrest.

O'Neill Family Fundraiser Concert

Star-Studded Gala Night Announced in Support of the O’Neill Family Fund

TUFC, in proud support of the O’Neill Family Fund, is delighted to announce an unforgettable Gala Night of Entertainment. Taking place on Thursday, 21st August at the National Basketball Arena, the evening promises a spectacular mix of music, magic, comedy, and dance.

WTA Dance Studio

The event runs from 7:30pm to 10:30pm, with doors opening at 6:30pm. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to soak up the atmosphere and secure the best seats.

All proceeds from the night will go directly to the O’Neill Family Fund, helping to provide vital support during a very difficult time. Tickets are available below.

TEMPLEOGUE UNITED CLUBHOUSE DEVELOPMENT RAFFLE 2024

The new development at TUFC will consist of state of the art unisex dressing room facilities with showers and toilets within the main changing rooms. Our general toilet facilities are being completely rebuilt to comply with the latest building regulations and specifications. We will now have a small canteen area for coaches and referees to make refreshments on match day or training. The entrance lobby will be completely demolished and will now cater for an open area for public/club mingling where people can sit and relax at their leisure.

On the right-hand side, we are carrying out a complete demolition and creating an 85 sq mtr open matted gym/ warm-up area with full wheelchair access toilet and shower facilities. To the back of this area, we are extending out of the back of the building to accommodate an indoor astro facility for training and technical drills. Above this area, we will have a new viewing area overlooking the All Weather Pitch that will be accessed from the bar or through a new staircase to the rear. Once the works are completed, the outside footpaths, steps, etc. will be fully wheelchair compliant, and we expect a finish date of of August 2024.

"This Project is going to cost in excess of €500,000. Thanks to the amazing support of the capital sports grant, we were awarded €150,000 for this project, but we need to raise significant funds to ensure we can continue to offer all our members the best facilities possible. This is the next step after delivering pitch 23 and our co-investment in the resurfacing of the All Weather Pitch with our neighbours and partners, St. Judes. A big thank you to the fundraising committee and the sponsors who have been so generous to date. I'm really proud to be part of this project and create a space that will serve our members and the wider community." Gavin Jones (Chairman)

Templeogue United F.C. Announce the Return of The Academy

Templeogue United F.C. are delighted to announce the return of our Academy following the break for Covid-19. The Academy will now run from 9.00am to 10.15am each Sunday on the new Astro turf.

New Astro Turf Requirements
All players are required to wear the correct moulded football boots (no metal studs or blades) and parents will be required to observe the session from outside the turf.

Templeogue United F.C Academy aim to provide the very best football coaching for children aged 4-6 years old in the South Dublin area. Your child's enjoyment, learning and the fun they have at every one of our sessions is vital to our success.
